About Oceanature Resort, Alibaug

The story of Oceanature Resort, Alibaug, is deeply rooted in legacy, passion, and evolution—led by a family that has shaped Nagaon’s hospitality landscape for decades.

It all began in 1977 with Diwakar Apte, the visionary founder and pioneer of the Nagaon cottage industry. With the creation of the humble yet beloved Sagar Cottage, he introduced tourists to authentic, homegrown Konkani hospitality. His warmth, simplicity, and commitment to guest experience laid the foundation for what would become a lasting legacy.

Carrying this legacy forward, the second generation—Madhura Apte and her partner and husband Rohan Raikar—entered the world of hospitality with both passion and global exposure. Armed with formal education in Hotel Management from AISSMS, Pune, and enriched by experience at renowned international 5-star brands like Marriott and Sheraton in the USA, they brought a refined, contemporary perspective to coastal tourism.

Madhura, a true Konkani at heart, has always been deeply connected to the coastal ecosystem of Nagaon, while Rohan’s Goan roots and urban upbringing give him a unique understanding of the need for serene coastal escapes. Together, their vision blends cultural authenticity with modern luxury.

Their first venture, Bougainvillaea, launched in 2015, quickly rose to prominence, becoming the top-rated resort in Nagaon on TripAdvisor within a year—an achievement that reflects their dedication and eye for excellence.

Further strengthening this journey is Rahul Apte, the newest partner, whose engineering expertise and international experience in Germany bring innovation, structure, and a fresh technical dimension to the project.

Together, this trio of founders combines legacy, global experience, cultural sensitivity, and forward-thinking innovation, bringing to life Oceanature Resort, Alibaug—a space where tradition meets thoughtful luxury, and nature is both celebrated and preserved.
